Homemade gifts are fun and a delightful surprise for the receiver. During the festive season visiting friends and family is a daily activity for us and taking a gift along a sweet gesture to spread some holiday cheer. We love being creative in the kitchen and this is the result of last weeks creation.
1. Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix
Chocolate chip cookies are probably the most famous biscuits in the world. These crispy, round cookies filled with chocolate drops are easy to make. The gift is the baking mix. Place the dry ingredients of below recipe in a decorative mason glass jar layer by layer. Print a lable with the wet ingredients and baking instructions and hang it on the glass jar. A great gift for any occasion.
Ingredients:
- 100 g Flour
- 1 tsp. Baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. Salt
- 50 g Rolled oats
- 100 g Sugar
- 100 g Chocolate drops
Wet Ingredients & Method:
- 90 g Unsalted butter
- 1 egg
Mix the egg and butter and stir it until smooth. Add ingredients from the jar to the egg mixure and mix it until all ingredients are incorporated. Preheat oven at 180 degrees celsius. Create 12 cookie balls and place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Bake cookies for approximately 12 minutes. Enjoy!
2. Chocolate Gingerbread Liquor
Amongst our friends this chocolate liquor is a new favourite. A delectable treat for the winter season.
Ingredients:
- 350 ml Cream
- 120 ml Whiskey
- 4 tbsp. Icing Sugar
- 6 tbsp. Spoons Nutella
- 2 tbsp. Gingerbread Spice Mix (alternatively use cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, cardamon, star anise)
Mix all ingredients until everything is well blended. Fill in a liquor bottle and decorate the bottle as you like. Enjoy cold or at room temperature.
3. Morello Gingerbread Jam
A typical breakfast in Germany consists of coffee or hot chocolate, bread rolls or bread with various toppings such as butter, sausage, cheese, honey or jam. We like making our own jam and regularly search for recipes. This one is well suited for Christmas and the winter season.
Ingredients:
- 2 kg Morello unsweetened (frozen)
- 1 kg Sugar
- 7.5 g Gingerbread Mix (alternatively use cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, cardamon, star anise)
- 2 packages Dr. Oetker Gelfix 2:1
Mix all ingredients in a saucepan and cook on low heat for approximately 5 to 10 min until foam appears. Rinse jar with cold water and slowly fill in the jam. Close jar and let cool down.
